Soaking in the heat as spring sunlight streams through our large lounge windows. Gazing at the glistening ocean, distant beach-goers silhouetted by the brightness of midday. Sipping a freshly brewed coffee with both babes silently sleeping in their beds. This is bliss.
I could have gulped down my coffee and continued with the ever abundant list of household chores. But I chose to absorb the moment, to relish it. How delicious it is. Apart from fully enjoying the simplicities of life and this present moment. It also allowed my mind to relax and create, hence this post now exists. This moment captured.
As I slowly sipped, my mind marvelled at the luscious beverage I was delighting in. My husband and I have been making our coffee at home using a stovetop Italian coffee maker, it has a rustic simplicity that we enjoy. It can also be taken camping or used on a bbq, which is important for coffee snobs like us who dislike instant. I especially enjoy having my coffee with very softly whipped cream. There is something about the cool sweetness contrasting with the strong, hot bitterness of the coffee which I find irresistibly good.
Now the coffee cup is empty and many more minutes than I had intended have passed, so it is time to continue with the day’s duties.
Enjoying the moment. Slowing down. Simple pleasures, a secret garden of treasures.
